Cheekeyes and Giveaway

One of the best toys I have seen this holiday season are Cheekeyes. The moment I saw them I fell in love. Like seriously. Love. Maybe it was their eyes. Maybe it was their cheeks. Maybe it was their splash of color. I don't know. All I know is that they captured my heart and I never looked back.

Testers at the 2009 Oppenheim Toy Portfolio have bestowed Cheekeyes its prestigious Platinum Award for one of this year’s best preschool toys and I can't but help with agree with them. These beautifully crafted toys are handmade from eco-friendly rubberwood and partially painted allowing the owner to appreciate the wood they were made from, making each one unique. Their name obviously comes from their distinctive rosy cheeks and painted eye. Animal sets include African, Forest, Dinosaur, Farm and Polar and they can only be found in the US through Oompa Toys, a new favorite toy store of mine.

We received the African set to test out and I have to admit that I had a hard time handing them over to my daughter. They were just so beautiful that I wanted to just display them on a shelf for everyone to see. However, I could not deny my daughter a chance of playing with these well made adorable wooden toys. Her favorite, which I could of predicted, was the elephant. She had her Cheekeye elephant running around in her play farm eating apples. Occasionally, I would hear a raspberry sounding coming from her- which was her way of saying elephant. (Apparently, the sound I taught her was an elephant sound was a raspberry sound. I am so not good with animal impersonations) Her elephant also took the brunt of some chewing and held up very well! Not a tooth mark to be found!

Cheekeyes are the type of toy that you hope to be able to pass down from child to child. Not only your own but your children's children. I have no doubt they will stand the test of time!
